I know what it feels like to arrive in the Netherlands and discover that life here works differently than expected. Although I was born in the Netherlands, I grew up mainly in Germany with a Belgian mother. Returning nearly 25 years ago as a “repat,” I quickly realized that even familiar cultures can feel foreign.

To help others navigate that transition, I wrote the German-language book KulturSchock Niederlande, which explains Dutch history and cultural quirks to German-speaking audiences. My life has always been closely connected to expat circles: in Enschede, I founded the International Women’s Club to support internationals and their families. After moving to Eindhoven with my first child, I joined both an English-speaking mums & toddlers group and a Dutch Waldorf/Steiner school group, giving me a deep understanding of how internationals integrate into Dutch schools and communities.

Today, I combine these insights with hands-on coaching to help expats and their families communicate with confidence and feel at home faster in Eindhoven.
